choosing_a_good_oneChoosing a tree can be a bewildering process, even for the professional.  What you see today may bear very little resemblance to what the tree will look like in ten years.  Or in six months for that matter!  Then of course there are the site conditions to consider...and did we mention all the names are in Latin?

Fortunately, you don’t need to worry about any of that.  A visit to the ‘Browse Trees’ area of our website will get you started, and when you’re ready to speak to a real person,  our experienced advisors are waiting in the wings.   We expect to individually assist every customer at some point in the selection process (it’s just that kind of business!), so don’t hesitate to pick up the phone or drop an email.  We are friendly and low pressure, offering both complimentary advice and chargeable advisory services to suit a wide range of needs.

Complimentary advice

If you have a reasonable idea of what you are trying to achieve, but need help finding the right trees for the job, our advisors are the ones to tap for information.  Remembering that we have over 3000 trees in stock, ranging in price anywhere from about £90 to £19,000 each, it is hugely helpful when contacting them to provide an indication of:

  1. the sorts of trees that appeal to you
  2. any access restrictions that might limit the size of tree you can practically consider
  3. an indication of the budget you have in mind, so that they can tailor their suggestions accordingly.

The easiest way to do this is to spend a bit of time browsing our trees first, just to get a feel for possibilities, either by visiting the nursery or visiting the Browse Trees area of our website.   We highly recommend starting a Favourites List, which you can later conveniently forward to us via email when you are ready to make an enquiry.   Including digital photographs of your proposed planting site is also hugely helpful (tip: have someone stand in the picture as a scale reference).

Whether you enquire by phone, email or in person at the nursery, your advisor will draw up a list of suggestions for you, considering your goals, site access, budget, and current stock availability.   If you are making your enquiry in person at the nursery, or are able to visit subsequently, he/she will help you find the best options for you from amongst our nineteen acres of trees.  You can hand-pick each tree then and there if you like.  If you are unable to visit, your advisor can forward digital photos of the stock her/she is recommending and select trees on your behalf.

All informal advice dispensed from the nursery is complimentary, and no appointment is necessary for nursery visits, however in busier times you may wish to book ahead to get the most from the experience.

Our site consultation service

Our site consultation service is ideal for larger project requirements, those seeking TreeScaping advice, or those who desire the peace of mind that comes with having a professional designer closely involved.  If our customer satisfaction surveys are anything to go by, we believe you will find the nominal fee we charge for this service to be well worth the investment.  Click here for more details.
